Norway signs for more GM200 MM/C radars [video!]
This Wednesday, Norway signed a contract for three additional radars for the Norwegian Army. These three GM200 MM/C radars are in addition to the five already planned. The close cooperation between the Ministries of Defense of Norway and the Netherlands, and Thales of course, has led to this new contract. Fantastic news!
"These radars are important to protect our own armed forces. They have better range, mobility, protection and accuracy than the radars that the Norwegian armed forces are using today," said Tomas Beck, head of land capabilities at the Norwegian Defense Materiel Organization. The Norwegian Army will place the radars on tracked vehicles, unlike in the Netherlands where the radar is placed on a Scania truck.
Thales notices that there is a lot of interest in the GM200 MM/C from a large number of countries, especially within NATO. There is also interest from Norway to purchase the GM200 for air defense in the future.
