Successful day @ the Thales museum on Open Monument Day!
Last Saturday, the 14th of September, was the national Open Monument Day. Among the in total 13 participating locations in Hengelo was our very own Thales Museum, in the basement of the N-Building at our High Tech Systems Park. With over 160 visitors (!) this day will go into the museum records as a great success!
We had prepared the museum for the visitors with a nicely decorated hall, with many rotating antennas, large and small models of naval ships, new, old, known and less known developments, all from the Hazemeier/Hollandse Signaal Apparaten/Thales think tank. Hannes Mulder
From the first minute past 10:00 on Saturday morning until after the closing time (officially at 16:00), it was a full house. Usually there were more than 25 visitors at the same time. The six museum tour guides Han, Frits, Monique, Hans, Emiel and Hannes continuously guided whole groups of visitors through the hall. Without fail, people were inside for at least a good hour, and usually much longer. In the corridor, Emiel also demonstrated the operation of an infrared camera.
Well after 16:00, they were able to note with satisfaction that the museum had had over 160 visitors in a day, and that the ratings given for the experience ranged from a 7 to a big 10. A lot of happy and satisfied visitors really enjoyed this unexpected little gem, in just one small room.
For anyone that's curious, but missed it...
Just walk in on a Monday when the hall is open and they can show you everything! Or make an appointment for yourself or a group of people. You can also schedule a private tour at certain times, but please keep in mind you'll be busy for more than 1.5 hour if you really want to take a good look.
There are just so many models with just as many interesting stories that we are so exited to show and tell! Hannes
